We periodically create petitions that relate to shark conservation. They represent an easy way for us to lend our voices to an issue. Petitions are not always enough to affect change, but they can be very effective to let the target of the petition know that thousands of people are paying attention to them and care about the issue. Palau declared itself the world's first National Shark Sanctuary and called for an international ban on shark-finning. We created a thank you card and gathered over 1500 signatures. This 'card' is now closed to further signatures.

Shark nets are gill nets installed in tiered patterns by KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board (KZNSB). The purpose is to reduce the shark populations and keep them away from people swimming at the beaches. However, there are better ways to protect swimmers that don't indiscriminately kill sharks and other marine life.
