I visited Palau in 1997, and I was so deeply impressed by its amazing marine treasures. The animal life in Palau is spectacular, and perhaps its most important asset, is its resident shark population. Please do not sacrifice these vital animals for a few exportable shark fins - once the sharks are gone, your wonderful underwater ecosystem that has taken millions of years to form, will surely collapse. I plan to visit Palau in 2010 - however, I will not return should you decide that sharks are not worth protecting. Thank you, Curtis Kates Los Angeles, CA

The act of taking only fins, and throwing away the body cannot be permitted. I think that the restriction is absolutely necessary. This new bill is nonsense. It moves backward in the age. I think that I should not pass it absolutely.

It is increadible, that a species, that is already very much under pressure and endangered to be exterminated, looses nearly it

I will no longer consider spending my tourist dollars for diving trips to Palau if the previous protective legislation is overturned. The world needs such special places where biodiversity can continue to flourish, under legal protection.

Please stop this nonsense! If you allow the killing of these beautiful creatures you will lose a lot more than just the sharks... Please reconsider this decision.

I have visited Palau and I intend to go there again. However, in case shark fishing will be allowed in this region, this area will off the list ! Shark fishing is cruel and unnecessary. Nature must be protected, don't disturb the balance !
