Palau currently has some of the strongest shark protection laws in the world. These are pictures of the shark protection law in action. These photos are provided by Dermot Keane, who founded the Palau Shark Sanctuary in 2001. The Shark Sanctuary seeks to have Palau's Exclusive Economic Zone declared a shark sanctuary.
The photos were taken by other shark champions: Ron Leidich, a Marine Biologist, Kevin Davidsion, Palau-based underwater photographer, and Christopher Hale, former Assistant Attorney General Palau who prosecuted many of the shark finning cases. Click below to open gallery. |
