Janet Murphy's professional life has embraced a few stages, from Veterinary Technician, to banking, entrepreneurial endeavors, Scuba Instructor, and the restaurant industry.
Born to Scottish parents, raised & educated in Jamaica, Janet began life as an island water baby with much free time spent in the water. Janet’s older brother introduced her to scuba diving while a teenager and her love of diving eventually manifested into a career as a diving instructor. Janet worked as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor and Master Scuba Diver Trainer in Jamaica, Antigua, and the Florida Keys over a period of twelve years, and enjoys seven Specialty Instructor ratings.
Janet also spent four years as a Veterinary Technician, three of which were as a volunteer at the Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Her desire to help animals in need remains, with sharks as the primary beneficiary. Over her years of diving, observing sharks in their natural habitat has always been the prized experience in a dive. However, as spotting any shark on a dive becomes more and more infrequent as their numbers decrease, Janet joined her co-founders of Shark Savers as she seeks to make the world safer for sharks.
Janet has an Associate of Science with Honors in Business Studies.
