Letzte Woche endete die diesjährige Artenschutzkonferenz CITES in Bangkok. Die Cites 2013 brachte die längst überfällige Wende für Haie und Rochen. So wurden nach jahrelangem Stillstand zwei Mantarochen- und fünf Haiarten, deren Schutzanträge in den vergangenen Jahren mehrfach in letzter Minute gekippt worden waren, mit einer klaren Zweidrittelmehrheit auf Anhang II des Artenschutz-abkommens gelistet.
