As a diver and ecologist I've traveled all over the world and it is imperative to keep our world's resources for all; not just a stubborn few that are slower to recognize a non sustainable situation. It is analogous to killing the golden goose. Once it is gone it is gone. Change will happen it is just when It was sad of all the places I've dove Indonesia was the only one to dynamite fish!!!!!!!!Think of it as an IQ test. Show the whole world that one understands it is in your country's best interest to be sustainable and help tourism and divers etc. to spread your brand in a positive way worldwide. Your kids (and their kids) deserve the chance to at least see these amazing animals. A Friend

Please stop fishing sharks - If all sharks are killed, ocean population will be strongly disturbed - No more fishes, no more sharks, no more wales etc The future food of human population will be jellyfishes and that

As a biological oceanographer (Ph.D., emeritus) I can not overstate the importance of maintaining healthy shark and ray population in the world's oceans, in general, and in the waters of Indonesia, in particular. The animals of great antiquity are vital apex predators and essential for the continued health of marine ecosystems. Shark finning is a particularly senseless form of unnecessary wasteful slaughter, for the sake of soup fins. I sincerely hope the relevant authorities will undertake all steps necessary to effectively exterminate the practice of shark finning before the population of adult sharks are themselves exterminated.

When I went diving in Komodo, Indonesia I don't actually remember seeing a shark and they are still actively dynamite fishing! These people need to be educated and helped to find a different way to earn income that does not kill off our beautiful oceans.

Diving Raja Ampat is on my "Must Do: list. However, I will not be bringin my tourist $$$$$$$$$'s to your country if the sharks are gone. Allowing finning is VERY short sighted for your country's long term economic health. PLEASE do not allow shark taking within your jurisdiction. Sincerely Dr Dexter Quiggle

Mr
While i totally agree that that this is wrong our energies would be better spent on tackling the human population explosion. More people inevitably mean more exploitation and destruction. No one seems to question our 'divine right' to go forth and multiply. That is the issue which needs tackling for all our sakes

It seems there is no hope for Indonesia but good luck. As long as the govrenment insists that commercial fishing can co-exist in recreational and important marine areas, this will continue.
