A prince, a princess, ambassadors from around the world, and a host of Singapore celebrities joined Shark Savers to honor the shark conservation efforts of over a dozen corporations at the I’m FINished with FINS gala in Singapore on November 28th.

The night kicked-off with performances by Singapore band Cats in E Cradle and I’m FINished with FINS campaign spokespersons Juan Jackson and Cheryl Wee, followed with the screening of a film on shark conservation and an auction. Among the distinguished guests were Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco, ambassadors to Portugal, Italy, Australia, Turkey, Thailand and Laos, Singapore Nominated Member of Parliament, Nicholas Fang, I’m FINished Campaign Ambassador, Hossan Leong, and I’m FINished campaign photographer, Aaron Wong.

Companies that had signed the corporate pledge to be FINished with FINS and never serve, consume or promote shark fin soup were then honored on stage with certificates of appreciation.

The Corporate Pledge is part of Shark Savers’ I’m FINIshed with FINS campaign that works to reduce the demand for shark fin soup by educating the public about its destructive impacts and encouraging them not to eat it. Unlike other pledges, the Shark Savers pledge takes effect immediately and specifies that shark fin soup must not only be removed from the menu, but must also not be offered by request or promoted by the company.

The I’m FINished with FINS gala, held at the Indochine Empress Place Restaurant, was the grand finale to a week-long series of events promoting shark conservation for Greenfest, organized by We’re FINished with FINS corporate spokesman and director of the Indochine Group, Michael Ma, and the Shark Savers Singapore team. Three Shark Savers board members were also thrilled to participate in a panel discussion with IUCN Representative Anshuman Saikia, and Michael Ma in the IUCN – Shark Savers Marine Conservation Forum to review shark protection policies.
