Palau: Oppose renewed shark fishingIn April, we launched a petition to oppose a Palau Senate bill that seeks to gut some of the strongest shark anti-fishing laws in the world. Read more background. Our petition has garnered over 3650 signatures, so far, and we have made three submissions to the government. Our petition represents a large share of the worldwide testimony opposing the bill. We recently attracted hundreds of Japanese signers, and our petition will be featured at the upcoming PangeaSeed events in Japan. This is significant because Japan is the largest source of tourism to Palau. The bill is currently sitting in Palau's Senate Committee on Resource, Commerce, Trade and Development. The Committee is still collecting information and comments and the full Senate is likely to consider the bill within a couple of weeks. If you have not already signed the petition, now is the time to do it! Go to the Palau petition.
