Palau: Oppose renewed shark fishing

In April, we launched a petition to oppose a Palau Senate bill that seeks to gut some of the strongest shark anti-fishing laws in the world. Read more background.

Our petition has garnered over 3650 signatures, so far, and we have made three submissions to the government. Our petition represents a large share of the worldwide testimony opposing the bill. We recently attracted hundreds of Japanese signers, and our petition will be featured at the upcoming PangeaSeed events in Japan. This is significant because Japan is the largest source of tourism to Palau.

The bill is currently sitting in Palau's Senate Committee on Resource, Commerce, Trade and Development. The Committee is still collecting information and comments and the full Senate is likely to consider the bill within a couple of weeks.

If you have not already signed the petition, now is the time to do it!

Maldives: Thank them for their total shark fishing ban

The Maldives is the first country to completely ban shark fishing in their waters. We launched a petition in April to lend positive support to the Maldives government and people for their decision to protect sharks. We currently have about 1200 signatures. We will be submitting these signatures shortly, and you can lend your support and enthusiasm to their actions by signing the petition, today.

KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa: Oppose Shark Nets

Shark Nets are a misguided attempt to protect swimmers that indiscriminately kill sharks and other sea life. We started this petition with our Shark Angels partners, Sea Shepherd and Save our Seas Foundation. We have over 1500 signatures thus far. Care to add yours?
