As a scuba diver and tourist to your beautiful country I am totally against your allowing shark finning. You may gain in the short term, but in the long term, your tourist dollars will greatly decrease...including mine. Please DO NOT allow this! I love your country and look forward to coming back frequently!

There is no need for shark fishing. It is just cruel and make no sense. If there is nothing more to see underwater, why visiting Palau again?????

I've been running my dive shop Seahorse for more the 19 years. We have had many group trips to Palau for diving. One of the biggest wonders in the waters of Palau are the sharks. Remember if our sharks die are oceans will die signed, C.Jensen SSI Intructor Trainer

It seems to me that society throughout the world has lost sight of the responsibility of good stewardship. Our planet and its every entity is important to preserve now and forever. It is difficult for me to imagine the insensitivity of any segment of society, commercial or otherwise, who would waste the life of a living creature to reap the fin of a fish.

We recently returned from 12 days of diving in the Philipines and spent over $9000 in lodging, food, diving and transport with local businesses.. I would go back and strongly recommend to my friends the trip to protected reefs like Tubataha reef... - but would have gone elsewhere if all I saw was Apo reef and the result of the overfishing that had gone on there for years... Palau has always had such a great reputation as a dive destination - especially for shark sightings. Please continue to let us come and enjoy spending our tourist dollars there enjoying such wonderful diving. Thank you.

I produced a documentary about Palau and the underwater environment which is so unique and pristine like nowhere in the world! I refuse to ever return to Micronesia if shark fishing becomes legal! Not only we need sharks for the natural balance, also pollution through fishing boats will make this place just like any other tourist destination. Palau will loose a great deal if this would go thru.
