Bea Esparza and Brad Robertson
Brad Robertson and his wife, Bea Esparza, live in Mallorca, Spain. Together, they run a recreation and wellness company, OndineEscape. The name of their company comes from Ondine, a mythological European legend that refers to a healthy affinity with the Sea and Nature.  Ondine was portrayed as a Free Spirited Water Nymph, a cousin of the Mermaid. It is this connection with the Sea and Nature that inspired the creation of Ondine Escape S.L.

Ondine Escape is a combination of Bea and Brad´s own affinity with nature. Their combined experiences throughout their vast travels have given them a broad spectrum of ideas to create this unnique recreational and wellness company.

As new business owners who work with nature, they feel a responsibility to give something back to nature. Ondine Escape holds conservation and education in very high regard and incorporates marine conservation and biology into the company's offerings.

Brad has created a PADI distinctive specialty called Palma Aquarium Shark Discovery that allows divers in Europe the chance to learn about the life and plight of sharks. The reason for the course is very simple: The Mediterranean is one of the most dangerous places for sharks and rays. Once abundant in the Mediterranean, most populations are all but gone. They would like to see that change.

They invite biologists to give presentations on marine life to their clients. They are producing a movie with film maker David Diley called “Behind Blue Glass” to be released in August 2011 in order to inspire ordinary people to get involved with shark conservation.

Brad and Bea have joined with Shark Savers to develop Shark Savers Spain. They are translating the Shark Savers website into Spanish and will also work to encourage Spain to become more responsible and sustainable in its fishing practices.

Brad Robertson was born in Sydney Australia and had his first encounter with sharks at Sidney’s Manly Oceanarium while working as a guide. This motivated him to take his first dive course so that he could volunteer to clean the shark tank and get close to these amazing creatures. He later moved to Cairns, Australia where he became a dive instructor. He spent the following six years diving the Great Barrier Reef, working on various on day trips and liveaboards.

Brad became inspired to incorporate conservation and education into his worklife through the example of two passionate marine biologists, Captain Jon Burnett and Chris 'Fluffy' Jones. The presentations and guiding that Burnett and Jones provided to their clients greatly impressed Brad because a diver or snorkeler can begin to understand what they are looking at. With this understanding also comes concern for the health of our oceans and the animals that live in it: conservation through education.

It was Brad's experience at Osprey reef, organizing and leading the shark dives, where his affinity with sharks developed. When you see the same sharks week after week you begin to see them as individuals, notice their behavior and the connection is made.
