Shark Savers Celebrates Mantas and launches new “I’m FINished” campaign at Asia Dive Expo

Shark Savers is again participating at ADEX, the Asia Dive Expo that runs from April 13th to 15th at Hall A, Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. This year, ADEX is dedicated to the manta ray. Shark Savers and WildAid recently released the Manta Ray of Hope report documenting the seriously unsustainable destruction of manta and mobula ray populations throughout the world.

Mantas are a favorite among divers. Shark Savers will be on hand to both celebrate mantas as well as urge ADEX participants to join our efforts to stop the trade in manta and mobula gill rakers.

Shark Savers’ Director Shawn Heinrichs will present these presentations:

  • Manta Ray of Hope - Visual Journey into the Manta Trade: April 13 at 5pm
  • Manta Ray of Hope - Global Threat to Manta and Mobula Rays: April 14 at 4pm.
Shawn was in a serious skiing accident a month ago, but this didn't stop him from traveling halfway around the world to Singapore for this important event.

Shark Savers will also be debuting our new Singapore campaign against shark fin soup:  

  • "I’m FINished with FINs" on April 13th at 4PM.

The introduction of the campaign will include a performance by a group of young Shark Savers. Then, together with ADEX, Shark Savers will present congratulatory certificates to business owners who have declared their businesses to be FINished with FINs. Shawn Heinrichs will then present on the global shark fin trade.

On the last day, Shawn will present one of our new films:

  • Befriending Giants - Human Connection with Whale Sharks: April 15th at 11:30am
