There are community events that could be appropriate to participate in where you could have a Shark Savers / Ban the Fin table. You can also create your own event to galvanize your community or group around shark conservation and make it fun.

At the event, hand out Shark Savers literature, ask guests to take action by signing a petition, writing a letter, or organizing their own events to support your Ban the Fin campaign.

Don't forget to publicize your event. Announce your event on Facebook, Twitter and other social media. Contact local press.

Here are some examples of events you might be interested in:

• Earth Day, other 'green' events, or any community event that allows organizations to set up tables.

• Host a shark conservation party or movie-night at your house, lunch room, dorm room, local park or community center. Sharkwater or This is your Ocean: Sharks are great movies that will help educate and raise awareness about the issues facing sharks.

• Organize a walk, race or community/group picnic event.
