DO NOT allow shark finning in Palau!!! Thousands of divers visit Palau every year to witness the beauty and mystique of these wonderful animals. Many shark species are nearing extinction, do not contribute to this process!

shark finning is one of the saddest things i have had to study, finding out what will happen if there are no more sharks is just terrifying. it must be stopped.

We're already having issues with extinction of animals, why would we want to add sharks to that list.
They are a very important part of the ecosystem whether people like them or not.

I would agree to allow shark fishing under the following condition: For every shark caught, one fisherman would be fed to the next shark they encountered.

Stop this, you shouldn’t allow that. Sharks are very interesting animals, don’t kill them. They can eat pork or Cows and not sharks. Shame on the Government of Palau

Shark finning is an absolute abomination! Would it be okay for us to cut off the legs of a dog or a cat and leave them to die? I do not think so. Shark finning needs to be illegal!

To President Johnson Toribiong Senator Adalbert Eledui, I pray you are greatly considering this petition when you make your decision in regard to bill 8-44. Palau has always been one of the places I would LOVE to visit. I would gladly spend my money, touring your beautiful island. I can guarantee, I will not be coming to see your island if I can expect to see commercial shark fishing. I would love to hear your thoughts on the issue...I just don't understand why you would consider allowing this bill. You're country has survived forever without the bill, why would you change that now? Please respond. Kind regards, Mrs. T. French

The reefs and ocean surrounding Palau must not be fished for shark. The islands beautiful underwater ecosystem must not be affected by shark fishing.

These creatures have been on this planet for millions of years and now they are threatened just because of this finning. It is throwing entire eco systems upside down. We need sharks in the ocean.

Shark fishing and finning is a waste of your resource. When the shark is gone you have no resource. More people will pay to see live sharks. Keep the sharks alive and make more money.

Why do you want to overturn a law that protects such a valuable resource in such pristine waters? So many creatures rely on sharks as a key part of the food chain, something that is being destroyed in other parts of the world. Do you not think that the utmost caution is advisable when approaching this issue. Changing this law would set a bad precident for the rest of the world in an age where leadership by smaller countries in this would be held in high regard by larger countries.

Unfortunately there are too many greedy people in the world! We established a government in order to keep fairness in our world. Destroying our natural resources such as the great sharks, removing their fins is a painful and primeval thing to do to them! Horrible! Unthinkable! Our government should n ot help man destroy the sharks for the sole purpose of the "almighty dollar"! I say NO to Senate Bill 8-44! Lets turn this bill around!
