By allowing shark fishing you are saying no to the future of Palau, no to tourists incomes, no to biodiversity and as such denying your children of any hopes of living a sustainable life in your country.
You have a gem, the world recognise it, you must cherish it!!!

Having recently returned from a week in Palau I can attest to the beauty of the undersea world there.
I was taken by surprise by the local shark population however. Both the size of the sharks as well as their numbers were far smaller than I would have expected.
It would appear that the current levels of illegal fishing are already taking their toll.
If the trend continues, I can see little reason to return to the island.

Poaching is not good.
However, even if fishing is lifted, poaching will be not lost.
